Shopping for a CEO Shopping for a Billionaire series Book 7 edition by Julia Kent Contemporary Romance eBooks
There are many, many reviews that will tell you the synopsis of the book, but I am not going to rehash it. It contains irritating mothers, frustrating protagonists and not one but 2 cliffhangers! I really did not like this book. I did not find it to be funny, as so many other reviewers did and I was incredibly irritated with the over the top mother of the bride and other obnoxious, ancillary characters. I did finish it, in part because I am persistent. Although I found some of it boring, it was relatively well written with only a few poor grammar choices. That said, I will never read another Julia Kent novel again.Product details

Shopping for a CEO Shopping for a Billionaire series Book 7 edition by Julia Kent Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
Great addition to the series!! The story belongs to Amanda, Shannon's best friend and Declan's brother, Andrew, or simply put Mandy and Andy!!)))) This book had lots of fun, exactly how Julia Kent got us used to. Trying to hide my laughing out loud in the middle of the night in order to not wake up my family, resulted to be really painful. I do not recommend reading it during the night!!
I gave it 4 stars and not 5, though I liked it, because I didn't feel the connection between Andrew and Amanda so strong. It is true that with the other couple, Shannon and Declan, we had 6 books to get their drift, but still. I would have liked at least more interaction between them if nothing more. But they were really cute together and at the end of the book the twist really took me by surprise. I was expecting him and his condition to grab our attention and not her. When you will read the book you will understand what I am saying.
Regarding Marie, I so wanted for her to have a meltdown, she totally deserves it. She is way too much!! I think that if this kind of person exists in real life, she is able to take out the worst from even the calmest person alive!!! Anyway, lovely and hilarious book. Enjoy!!
Huge hit by Julia Kent! I absolutely love this entire series! The frivolity continues as Declan and Shannon try to maintain some control of their wedding plans, the mother/daughter issues that never end thanks to Marie, and the budding romance of Shannon's best friend Amanda and Declan's brother Andrew.
Amanda is thrilled to be the maid of honor at ber best friend's wedding, if it weren't for the best man that kept kissing ber, in closets! And he's the grooms brother and CEO of one of her biggest mystery shopping accounts. But when Andrew suddenly refuses to be in the wedding, and Marie highjacks the wedding plans as if it were her own, Amanda is stumped at how to fix things, and fixing things is what she's always done best. It's how she has always defined her selfworth. But Amanda has some deep seeded issues she must come to terms with, and Andrew has been keeping a secret he must also finally come to terms with before the two can consider a relationship with anyone.
I loved the emotional and personal journey both Amanda and Andrew go on in this book, and how they work through their demons to get to a point where they can consider a future with someone else.
If you are familiar with the Shopping for ... series then you may know Amanda is best friends with Shannon, the heroine in the first 6 books. In this book readers get to really know Amanda as more than a good friend of Shannon's. Ms. Kent allows Amanda to have a few quirks of her own and Amanda is definitely her own woman. We follow Amanda's life and the relationships she has with her family, friends, their family, and finally, Andrew, the brother of Declan (hero for the 1st 6 books) and name CEO of the family (conflict!) It's a quirky romance that stands on it's own. I recommend this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Rom Coms, when done right, achieves perfection. This book was close with a few zingers written in. I laughed at many parts, however, there were many chapters that I literally skimmed just to get through.
And the characters were a bit difficult to keep track of since the author hopped around quite a bit. There needed to be a bit more explanation of who they were. I think she assumed that all her readers must have read the previous books to know who it was we were reading in this book. For those new to her books and characters-a bit of backtracking or history is essential.
One aspect I really loved about the author's writing - was that she didn't have graphic sex scenes. She did a phenomenal job of layering in the passion and the steam without the in-your-face crass language many other authors fall back on (the ones who can't fall back on good writing to make the scene). Ms. Kent is talented enough she can relay on the crafting of her words - her talent to build a scene - without shoving graphic sex in your face. Most readers like to leave a bit to the imagination - so for this fact alone I bump up my review to 4 stars from 3.
That being said ... I liked the book, but this one will probably be the only one I read from this author. While the characters were likable, I couldn't get attached to them (because she didn't tell me who they were mentioned above) so I don't have a deep desire to see what happens next.
